The Meller family, besides holding the manors of Winterborne Came, Winterborne Faringdon and Little Bredy, also held the manor of Upcerne. Ancient tradition has it that the Mellers or Millers were descended from a miller of the Abbot of Abbotsbury. The heirs of Edward Meller sold the manor of Little Bredy about 1730.
