Anywhere that seems like a good idea

A great event coming up in April - Celebrate 125 Years of Westham

More details to follow soon, but in the meantime those involved with the project (including yours truly now) would love to know of any memories you may have of Westham at any time. This could be of events, streets, shops, wartime, just anything that may be of interest to others and forms a part of Westham's history.

We'd also love to see any photos or old postcards and Sam, who is organising these for a display, is happy to come to you if you are local and would be grateful if she could borrow them to scan them. She would of course return them to you as soon as possible after she has done so.

Also on request is for any old wedding dresses as they would like a display of them.

All of the above can be of any decade and anything to do with Westham is of interest.

If you have any such things that you would be happy to have included in an exhibition for the 125 Years event, please email me at the website address at the bottom of the homepage of the site, or, my name at weymouth-dorset.co.uk and I will pass the information onto Sam.

Thank you for your help :)

Hi Debby

I have a photo of William Charles Farwell b.1887 Westham, if it is of interest I could let you have copies.

There are several over the years but mainly after his marriage in Wyke Regis 1912.

Hi Shreen Watcher :)

Thank you for your offer. Do you have any Westham addresses for Mr Farwell or his family? i.e. could we position him in Westham? :D

Hi Debby

William Charles Farwell baptism 21 Dec 1887 in Wyke Regis may have shown his abode as Westham. In 1891 he is at 8 Great Western Terrace Radipole see RG12/1645/65/34.

Hi Mark and welcome to the forums :)

That's very interesting. Thank you for the link to it. We would like to include something about him in our history display as one of the more famed residents :)

Hi Debby,
I have a number of deeds for properties in Westham dating back to 1879 - that earliest one being the deed issued when the Earl of Ilchester parceled up land from his estates which then became Westham. I wonder if they would be of interest?

Hi Sheelagh and welcome to the forums :)

They would most definitely be of interest. Thank you for posting about them. Perhaps it might be a good idea if you could email me please: my name @ weymouth-dorset.co.uk

Just to say congratulations Debby and Sam on the Westham display at Conifers School last weekend. It was great to meet you both.

Anyone who missed the event will be able to see highlights we put together on our blog site
