Digging up the past!

Preliminary work on the new Weymouth relief road began last month and the diggers have been in evidence up on Ridgeway. So far, they have discovered a burial mound (not entirely unexpected in this area!) and other evidence of the land's use in ancient times.

When they get as far as Two Mile Coppice, I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn of more antiquities being discovered, as despite the claim that it isn't ancient, there is evidence of its existence going a long way back.
