Save Our Southill Community Area
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council is proposing to allow the building of 'affordable homes' on land near the shops at Radipole Lane, Southill, Weymouth, which is a designated 'Community Area' for the use by Southill and Radipole village residents.
Local residents who use the facilities in the Community Area, such as the shops, John Gregory pub, Community Centre, Kidz R Us pre-school, Southill Youth Club and the car park, are not very happy at the prospect of losing the only piece of green land left and some of the car park. The small piece of green land is like the village green, it defines what that area is all about - a community area for the benefit of all local residents. The car park is well used by patrons of the above mentioned facilities and is often full to capacity. Any loss would surely affect local businesses as their patrons would go elsewhere.
